*​ [ENG BELOW]: It feels amazing to become the Goalkeeper coach of Angkor Tiger and I look forward to helping the goalkeepers and defense become the best they can be.

Of course. I was first a goalkeeper in Timor-Leste and I played for different teams at the international level, I played with different age groups from U19 all the way to U23. I also played for the senior national team, in a game against Saudi Arabia. Back then, In Timor, the level of goalkeeping coaching was low and we goalkeepers had poor coaching education.

It was after that game against Saudi Arabia that I realized I needed to make a change in my country. So, I retired in 2016 from playing and became a full-time goalkeeper coach and football coach. I was the first player-coach at Nagarjo FC in Timor before becoming the Timor Leste Football Federation (FFTL) signed me and I was the goalkeeper coach for U-19 to the senior national team for the last 7 years.

This year, I was appointed as head coach of SLB Laulara, the Benfica sister club in Timor-Leste. I managed to help the club go on a 7-game unbeaten run and worked Mouzinho as well, who we brought on loan from Visakha.

During the season, an opportunity from Angkor Tiger came through my agent Rookbook Sports and it was a no-brainer for me to take up the offer. Coaching overseas has been a big goal of mine and I aim to do my best.

I have had the opportunity to learn from so many different coaches like Kim Shin Hwan, Fabio Maciel, Gopalkrishanan, Norio Tsukitate, Shigeo Yamazaki, and Park Tae Su. Now, I am going to use these lessons from them and my experience to help the goalkeepers and backline.

Yes, I watch a lot of CPL, especially Angkor Tiger games because many people in Timor Leste followed Mouzinho. My former Timor-Leste U-23 teammate Thiago Fernandes played for Kirivong last year and I was also watching some of the games that he played in.

I’ve also had to do scouting and analysis on the league so I do watch it a lot. The standard is definitely rising which is good and I am excited to see how I can do my part for Cambodia football.

I think the main reason why I wanted to come to Angkor Tiger is because I see so similarities to Timor-Leste’s national team. These include the goalkeeper situation. Nat, Bunheng, and Jing are keepers with a lot of potentials but have not had specialized training for a while now. I know that if they put in the hard work, I will do whatever I can to make them elite and potentially play for the national team.

Coach Alistair’s system needs keepers to be good with the feet and be commanding. These are areas where I have helped the Timor-Leste national team goalkeepers in. Also, I have been brought in to work with the defense. I see Sophal Dimong in the SEA Games, and I am excited to work with him. I also am keen to work with other players like Han Ty, Makara, and the rest.

I am going to do all I can to give back to the fans. I know from speaking to my agents Rookbook Sports, Mouzinho, and Alistair, that Tiger has a lot of fans. Thank you for the opportunity to help this club. You will not be disappointed.
