Angkor Tiger Football Club, a top division football club playing in the Cambodian Premier League from the city of Siem Reap globally famous for the Angkor Wat temple announced today that they have successful raised investment from India based company SkaSports Investments Private Limited.
Angkor Tiger Football Club currently plays in the Cambodian Premier League from the city of Siem Reap and is owned by Japanese businessman and entrepreneur Mr. Akihiro Kato.
Angkor Tiger Football Club plays their matches at the Hanuman Stadium and has recently announced the launch of their own stadium construction project with an initial capacity of 5,000 spectators on a land holding of 50,000 square meters.
SkaSports was founded in 2023 by Mr. Rohit Ramesh and Mr. Sudhir Menon and is based out of Bangalore, India.
Mr. Rohit Ramesh is a shareholder and Full Time Director of the more than 140-year-old The Hindu Newspaper Media Group, which is India’s National Newspaper since 1878 and has the second largest newspaper circulation in India of over 1.5 million copies per day.
Mr. Sudhir Menon, is a seasoned and experienced sports administrator from India having a diverse multi-cultural work experience from the Middle East to India and has worked on marquee events like the FIFA U17 World Cup 2017 India and in management with top flight Indian football teams like Bengaluru FC and Chennai City FC.
Skasports Investments is engaged in the business of investing in and acquiring sports teams, leagues and properties and working for the overall development of the sports ecosystem. SportsCast India was their first acquisition and in line with the company’s vision to acquire sustainable profitable businesses and have a complete 360-degree presence in the fast-growing Indian sporting ecosystem.
Angkor Tiger FC with this investment has achieved the distinction of being the first club from South East Asia to have an Indian partnership and investment.
Through this investment and partnership, both entities will work together to enhance the sporting and business profile of Angkor Tiger FC and explore new possibilities for commercial and non-commercial ventures in the Asian market.
Angkor Tiger FC is the only team from the northern half of the country and plays all their home games at the Hanuman Stadium in Siem Reap. During 2022-23 season, they recorded the highest home ground attendance for a team.
The Club is focused on developing young talents from the region and has promoted more than 8 players from their Academy to the Senior Team over the last 4 years. With technical partnerships with Japanese League 2 clubs, many young Cambodian talents are also sent to Japan for regular training and match time opportunities.
